BCHS receives R.C. DURR grants

BRACKEN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVES RC DURR TECHNOLOGY GRANT

Bracken County High School has been awarded the RC Durr Foundation grant for Technology in Rural High Schools grant in the amount of $15,000.  The goal of the Durr grant is to provide cutting edge technology resources to rural high schools to improve instruction and to prepare students with the skills needed in the 21st century careers.

BCHS administrators submitted the grant proposal to fund the purchase of 60 chromebook computers for use by students.  With the increase in the number of students enrolled in dual credit courses at MCTC and Murray State, the need for more and better technology has also increased.  This new technology will be available for BCHS students to use in their classes.

Three teachers were also notified that they had received the individual $2000 technology classroom grant.  Mr. Jim Fields, Agriculture teacher, received a grant to purchase a vinyl sign and banner machine for use in his Ag Communications class.  Ms. Lila Brindley, Biology teacher, received a grant to purchase probe sets for her classroom, and Ms. Cary Carl, Arts & Humanities teacher, received a grant to purchase laptops and a printer for use in the yearbook class.

Staff at BCHS are very appreciative of the Durr Foundation’s continued commitment to education and technology in rural high schools.
