8/08/09 > KEA Fall Membership Drive Begins
KEA has kicked off the 2009 Fall iRecruit Membership Drive which will run from July 15 to October 1.

The iRecruit Drive looks a lot like the Spring Membership Drives KEA has done in recent years. The most noticeable difference is that there is NO “free” membership period with this drive. Once an employee signs a membership form, they are a dues paying member.

The incentives for enrolling members are as follows:

$10 for every new member enrolled
After 3rd member: A $25 gift certificate to the KEA store
After the 6th member: A $100 bonus
After 12th member: An additional $100 bonus
After 18th member: An additional $100 bonus
After 24th member: A $500 bonus
As an additional incentive, 10 lucky recruiters will win an 8 GB iPod touch and $50 iTunes Gift Card!

Every recruiter that enrolls 3 or more new members will be entered into a drawing to win an 8GB iPod touch and $50 iTunes Gift Card. One entry for each new member enrolled.
Prizes to be awarded by a random drawing October 16, 2009. Winners to be announced at www.kea.org
To be eligible for incentives, all completed membership forms must be for APA (payroll deduction) and must be submitted to the KEA Frankfort Office by 5 PM October 5, 2009. Forms may be mailed to: KEA, 401 Capital Avenue, Frankfort, KY 40601, Attn: Membership Department.

To obtain membership forms, contact your local president or KEA UniServ District. Potential members may also choose to enroll at https://www.kea.org/membership/tickets/add/register and choose payroll deduction.

If you have questions or need additional information, please contact KEA Vice-President Tom Denton at tdenton@kea.org or 1-800-231-4532 x 307.
8/01/09 > KEA Applauds Selection of Dr. Holliday as New Commissioner of Education
The Kentucky Education Association applauds the Kentucky Board of Education on its selection of Dr. Terry Holliday as our new commissioner of education. KEA believes he was clearly the best choice among the four finalists. Dr. Holliday has a proven track record of pushing for excellence and for collaboration with all who care about children’s learning and public schools. He comes highly recommended by leaders of the North Carolina Association of Educators, KEA’s sister organization.

Dr. Holliday initiated a conversation with KEA leaders prior to his interview with the KBE, to solicit educators’ views of the most important issues facing our schools and our children. Such reaching out to partners is typical of his work throughout his outstanding career in North Carolina.

KEA looks forward to working with Dr. Holliday as we all fight for the same thing – high levels of learning for all Kentucky children.
