Welcome to the newest part of the BCMS library - blogging!

I am going to be posting blogs about books I am reading that will be avaliable for checkout at the middle school library.  I will be reading books that are nominated for the KY Bluegrass Award in the beginning -but who knows where this will take us.  I invite you to post comments and ask me questions about the books I've posted.  Keep in mind that I will be monitoring/approving the blogs - and absolutely NO objectional or offensive information will be posted!  You can blog anonymously or you may put first names, but please do not put first and last names for security reasons.

If you would like me to post a new blog about a book you are reading so others can ask you quesitons about it - please give me the information at middle school or e-mail it to me.  I will post your information for others to read and respond to.

I am excited about the new format that we can use to communicate with each other about books and reading.  Let the blogging begin ! ! !

I read this book a couple of years ago because one of my students suggested I read it; I really enjoyed it. I think the year I read it Son of the Mob was a Bluegrass Award Winner for high schoolers. I actually heard Gordon Korman speak at a conference in 2005 and I've read another of his works, "No More Dead Dogs". It was humorous, but Son of the Mob is by far my favorite of his books. This book has it all---humor, romance, action, and mystery.
If you like this book I would also recommend another title by the same author, Swindle. While I have not read this book, several students have told me they like it.
I read thisbook because Austin Ray nread it and told me I should try reading it. It is about a boy named Vince whos father is in the vending machine buissiness. Vince does not appove of his fathers buisiness. Vince tries to stay away from the family buisiness but ends up geting sucked in to it by someone that owes his dad some money.Vince's girlfriend's dad is a FBI agent that is trying to get his dad thrown in jail. If you want to know more you haver to read the book
How does the conflict between the fathers affect the boyfirend/girlfirend relationship? Usually when your parents don't like the boy/girl you have chosen it makes you want the relationship more. Was this the case with Vince? I usually like mobster movies - does this book have that type of plot?
Kendra (girlfriend) does not know anything about Anthony (Vince's father) and Agent Bite-Me's (what Vince's family calls Kendra's father) conflict until they run into her dad and Vince tells her. Read the book to find out what happens next
This seems like it would be a good book! I like those mobs movies/ shows too. There is a movie called the Italian Job (or something) and I REALLY liekd it! So, I bet I would enjoy reading this book!
